For Patients
Our History
Dr. Mary Jean Stack PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS opened Great Falls Physical Therapy in 2018. A native of Great Falls, Virginia, Mary Jean returned to her hometown to serve the health and rehabilitation needs of the community. Since opening Mary Jean has been joined by several experienced Doctors of Physical Therapy: Dr. Jaison Alderman, Dr. Ryan Galvin and Dr. JJ Kfoury with local roots who share in her vision.
GFPT provides one-on-one appointments that are individualized to each client’s needs and personal goals. All of our appointments are one hour long directly with your PT. We do not use aides or assistants. We utilize current evidence-based practice when providing all treatments.
While GFPT specializes in orthopedic manual therapy we serve both children and adults with all injuries and health concerns. We are your trusted PT for all acute and chronic conditions! We believe in supporting our community as a whole and building a place where families can go for all their physical wellness needs.

Why is GFPT Out of Network?
GFPT strives to provide the best care to all patients. Because GFPT is out-of-network, we are able to tailor our appointments and take the extra time to make sure you get the care you need. This allows our patients to get better more efficiently than a traditional factory PT setting and minimizes long term costs.
Insurance
GFPT is out of network with all insurance companies including Medicare. Your payment is due at time of service. For your convenience, we verify your insurance coverage and provide you with an estimate of your out-of- pocket costs before your initial evaluation. We also bill and submit to your claim to your insurance company on your behalf. After meeting your deductible, your insurance company will send your reimbursement to you directly. We are able to use health savings accounts for payment.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I Need a Doctor’s Referral?
Virginia is a Direct Access State. This allows for most patients to directly access a physical therapist without a physician referral. For more information about Direct Access, please visit the American Physical Therapy Association website. *Medicare patients require MD referral for PT.
How Do I Know if PT Can Help Me?
We are happy to schedule an evaluation to determine if you are an appropriate candidate for PT services. If your diagnosis is out of our scope, we will work with you to determine an appropriate referral. If you have any questions please call 703-349-1030 or email info@greatfallspt.com to determine if you would benefit from an evaluation.
Do You Take Insurance?
GFPT is an out-of-network provider. We still can work with most insurance companies as an non-participating provider.
Prior to scheduling your first evaluation we will contact your insurance company to verify your benefits and provide you an estimate of your out-of-pocket costs. Your payment is due when services are provided.
What Does Out-of-Network Mean?
This means that GFPT has not contracted with your insurance company for reimbursement at a negotiated rate. We can give you one-on-one time and attention to reach your health goals, unlike conventional in-network practices.
What Should I Wear?
Please arrive with comfortable clothing that you are able to move in.
How Early Do I Need to Arrive?
Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your initial evaluation if you still need to complete paperwork. *Please feel free to utilize our outdoor covered porch on the Village Center Green while you wait.
