Care with a practical purpose

A plan for the hands you rely on.

Tom works with teenagers, adults, and older adults, helping them address hand and upper-extremity concerns that affect their everyday activities.

Post-operative & injury rehabilitation
Many hand-therapy patients are referred by a surgeon or hand doctor. Tom works with patients recovering after tendon repair and other hand or upper-extremity surgery. He also treats tendon injury and fractures of the finger, hand, wrist, or elbow, with care shaped around each patient’s needs and their physician’s plan.
Custom splints & braces
When your plan calls for support, Tom can fabricate custom splints and braces for your hand. These may be used for post-operative recovery or for a non-surgical condition, depending on your needs.
Wound-care support
Tom provides wound care and teaches patients how to care for a wound with proper dressings. When needed as part of care, this can include wound cleaning and debridement—the removal of damaged tissue. Stitch removal is only performed with physician approval.
Movement, dexterity & daily tasks
Care focuses on manual dexterity and using the hand and fingers for the activities that matter to you—computer and phone use, knitting, gardening, or painting. Education may include exercises, stretches, splint use, and adaptive tools to support everyday tasks.

Start with your own goals

Tell us what is getting harder.

Surgery is not the only reason to seek hand therapy. Your specific condition and practical needs guide the discussion.

Your recovery
Tell the team about your injury, surgery, referral, and any instructions from your surgeon or hand doctor.
Your everyday activities
Share the tasks you are finding difficult—typing, using a phone or iPad, handling small objects, or the hobbies you want to keep doing.
Your support needs
Discuss whether custom splints, braces, wound-care guidance, or help with fine-motor function may be relevant to your plan.

Before your visit

Questions, answered.

Do I have to have surgery to benefit from hand therapy?

No. Tom works with post-operative patients and with non-surgical concerns such as arthritis, trigger finger, tendinitis, contractures, severe stiffness, and difficulty using the hand or fingers.

Which parts of the arm can hand therapy address?

The concerns discussed here include the fingers, hand, wrist, and elbow. Tell the team about your specific injury or condition when requesting an appointment.

What age groups does Tom work with?

Tom works with teenagers and adults, including older adults. Younger children with hand concerns may be better served by a pediatric hand therapist.

Can Tom make a splint or brace for me?

Tom can fabricate custom splints and braces when they are appropriate to the plan of care, for both surgical and non-surgical patients.

Can Tom help with wound care or stitches after surgery?

Tom can provide wound-care support, including instruction on dressings and wound cleaning or debridement when needed. Removing stitches requires approval from your physician.

Do I need a referral from a hand surgeon?

Many patients come through a surgeon or hand doctor. Contact our team with your situation so they can discuss the next step and what information is needed for your visit.
